Kristyn Gannon
Registered Provisional Psychologist

Hi! I am Kristyn…

As a provisional psychologist, I support children, adolescents, adults, and
families with both counselling and psychological assessment services here at TD
Psychological Services. My clinical focus includes emotional regulation, anxiety,
ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, trauma, self-esteem/self-image, therapeutic

play, and psychological assessment.

I am particularly passionate about providing psychological assessment services
to individuals of all ages. My knowledge and skills in the area of psychological
assessment come from my time completing my Master of Education in School
and Applied Child Psychology at the University of Calgary where I was trained in
formal assessment. My time at the University of Calgary as well as my clinical
experience as a provisional psychologist has provided me with detailed
knowledge and practical skills in working with children and families and

conducting psychological assessments.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working in a variety of settings
supporting children and families, including in the non-profit sector and
educational settings. My time working in the non-profit sector allowed me to gain
experience supporting children and families who are living with trauma, and
experiencing barriers such as low income living, lack of housing, addiction
issues, and more. It is here that I learned the importance of utilizing a trauma
informed lens in my practice. My time supporting children in educational settings
provided me with opportunities to support a wide range of children including
children experiencing developmental disabilities, learning struggles, emotional

disorders, trauma, and severe behavioral concerns.

I have a passion for providing counselling services to children and have
completed my Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills through the Rocky Mountain
Play Therapy Institute. My methods of conducting therapeutic play are based on
the guiding principles of Child Centered play therapy and Adlerian play therapy. I
utilize a variety of therapeutic play modalities in my work with children including
sand tray, puppet work, art and creative techniques, therapeutic storytelling, and
therapeutic games. My approach to therapeutic play is rooted in the belief that
play is a road map to a child’s inner world, and through play, children are able to

communicate inner realities, process life events, and explore who they are, even

when they do not have the words to do so.

In my work with adolescents and adults, I take a client-centered approach,
creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel supported and
empowered. I believe in building a strong, trusting relationship to foster self-
awareness and growth. To meet each client's unique needs, I integrate evidence-
based therapies such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive
Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and
Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and
Reprocessing (EMDR). By combining these modalities with a client-centered
lens, I help clients build resilience, improve emotional regulation, and make
lasting, meaningful changes aligned with their values and goals
